Honey and the Finger of God

Raw honey, not tampered with, is the glory of creation. It is estimated that in a pound of raw honey dwells the nectar from over 21 million visits to the flowers of the field, the beauty, the sweetness, and their powerful life force all prepared by the finger of God. Shouldn’t raw honey be set at your table?

Honey and the Finger of God

Article#: 743

Should it be any surprise at all that carnal man chooses the opposite of that which is endorsed by God? If God says “Yes,” man says “No.” That’s how it began in the Garden of Eden. Satan challenged the Words of God, and unfortunately the mother and father of all mankind chose the wrong words. Since then it’s been like mother, like daughter; and like father, like son. Is it a surprise? There is a real and powerful way to escape this deadly inherited trait. Click on to “Further With Jesus” on this website to find it, along with many other categories of topics. (See the navigational bar on your left.) NOW FOR TODAY’S SUBJECT.

GOD SAID, Exodus 3:8:

And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.

God highlights milk and honey as the land of ultimate promise. God refers to honey and/or the honeycomb 60 times and classifies it with the very best fruits of the land. It is noted in the Bible that the great minister, John the Baptist, who prepared the way before the Lord Jesus Christ, ate a diet of locusts and wild honey.

It is written in Proverbs 24:13-14,

My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste: So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.

Here, God compares the goodness of the honey and the honeycomb, which are sweet-tasting, to the knowledge of wisdom when you find it, knowing that the finder shall be rewarded.

MAN SAID: “God’s Word” is just a bunch of hand-me-down bunk! Eat a lot of white sugar—a whole lot of it. The average American consumes 150 pounds of the white stuff every year and, when he tries to wean himself of it, instead of using honey, he produces his own concoction such as saccharin or NutraSweet. The warning on the side of a “Sweet ’N Low” package, which contains calcium saccharin reads, “Use of this product may be hazardous to your health. This product contains saccharin which has been determined to cause cancer in laboratory animals.” That’s what man has to say.

Now THE RECORD. God created all the substances of the world and knew full well all about the other sweetening agents, but He promotes raw honey. The reasons outlined in this feature will make that fact abundantly clear. And this will be another proof that God is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6).

During his research into the centenarians of Russia’s Caucasus mountains, Professor Nicolai Vasilievich Tsitsin, a biologist and experimental botanist associated with the Longevity Institute of the then-U.S.S.R., found a common bond among these oldsters he thought very noteworthy. He discovered that they were mostly beekeepers and that their principle foods were products of the hive. Their habit was to keep the raw honey for their own consumption and to sell off the processed honey. These centenarians, of course, lived past 100 years and some lived to be as much as 150 years old. I thought it also noteworthy that beekeepers suffer less from cancer and arthritis than any other occupational group worldwide.

Under the heading, “Honey: The Perfect Food,” the following excerpt was found in the booklet, titled Healing From The Hive, authored by R. Elkins:

Dr. Paavo O. Airola, author of Health Secrets from Europe has written: “Honey is a perfect food. It contains large amounts of vitamins, minerals, being particularly rich in vitamins B and C. It contains almost all vitamins of the B-complex, which are needed in the system for the digestion and metabolism of sugar. Honey is also rich in minerals such as calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium, silicon, etc. This is specifically true of the darker varieties, such as buckwheat. The vitamin C content varies considerably, depending on the source of the nectar. Some kinds may contain as much as 300 milligrams of vitamin C per 100 grams of honey.”

Honey is a source of rapidly supplied energy. Due to its perfect sugar formula, it requires no intermediate steps for proper digestion. It truly is a marvel of God’s supernatural design. Apart from also being a salve and antibiotic, honey cannot have bacteria living in it.

When comparing raw honey with white sugar, the differences are substantial. Again from the booklet, Healing From The Hive:

Honey is a mixture of glucose and fructose, while white sugar is made up of sucrose. As mentioned earlier, the simple types of sugars found in honey are more easily assimilated into the bloodstream than the disaccharide form of sugar found in refined cane or beet sugars. In addition, honey glucose boosts the absorption of essential minerals such as zinc, calcium and magnesium, while ordinary sugar can actually leech these same minerals from the body. Eating white sugar can weaken bones and even block growth by inhibiting the amount of calcium absorption in the intestinal system, hence the bones do not receive the calcium they need. Another advantage honey has over white sugar is that unlike white sugar, it has not been linked with the development of carcinogens which have been linked to certain types of cancer. The over-secretion of insulin brought on by white sugar consumption has been connected with the formation of carcinogens in the body which may affect organs like the breast. Another important difference between honey and sugar is an essential one. Raw honey can rightfully be considered a living food which contains a whole host of nutrients intrinsic to its natural production by honeybees. White sugar is a dead substance devoid of vitamins and minerals. The fact that it is badly abused and terribly over consumed in this country is cause for alarm. The human body was not designed to cope with such tremendous amounts of refined sucrose. An added bonus to using honey is that you get more sweetening power per tablespoon of honey than other common sweeteners.

The massive benefits of God’s honey are being uncovered on a regular basis. Again Elkins reports:

Recent in vitro tests found that honey exhibited a significant inhibitory effect on the heliocobacter pylori bacteria thought to be the single most common cause of gastric ulcers. These tests found that honey was better at stopping the action of H. Pylori than several other antimicrobial agents. Their recommendation following the study reads: “Our study advocates carrying out clinical investigations of the effect of honey on gastroduodenal disorders colonized by H. Pylori.”

And finally, Elkins writes:

One very universal application of honey has been to promote the rapid healing of wounds. Honey is the perfect agent for any kind of injury which involves breaking the skin because it protects against infection while boosting the healing process. A number of clinical studies have recognized the wound healing capabilities of unprocessed honey. In some cases, raw honey was sterilized to ensure that it was free from botulinum organisms. Laboratory tests have confirmed that honey can exert a protective effect against all kinds of abscesses including gastric lesions or ulcers. French scientists conducted tests investigating the value of honey as a healing agent, and found that honey healed 88 percent of 40 patients with wounds of various kinds. They concluded that, “this simple, efficient, cheap and with no side effects treatment deserves being better known and integrated in the set of common antiseptics.” [End of quotes]

Concerning wound healing properties of honey, Manfred Kroger, Ph.D., professor of food science at Pennsylvania State University, states: “First honey covers the wound and starves any bacteria so that they stop growing. It also serves as a protective barrier against new bacteria.” It is also possible that enzymes in honey actually promote skin growth.

In regard to dental health, associate professor P.C. Molan of the University of Waikato’s Department of Biological Sciences, writes:

“Although honey, like other sugary foods, has the potential to cause decay of the teeth by promoting the production of lactic acid by bacterial glycolysis, it also has the potential to protect the teeth by inhibiting the oral bacteria if it is a honey with a good level of antibacterial activity that is eaten. Its antibacterial activity may also give protection from gum disease by inhibiting the bacterial metabolism which causes this.” [End of quote]

Concerning sucrose, white sugar for instance, and honey and diabetics, it has been noted by Doctor J. Carpenter of the University of Hawaii, that the complex sugars in honey move into the bloodstream at a slower rate and are, therefore, less likely to cause an overstimulation of insulin production. Add to this the fact that honey is twice as sweet as sugar. So, you can use half as much in a given recipe. Also, you can see that diabetics are far less likely to shock themselves with honey as a sweetening agent than with sugar.

On Wednesday, December 20, 2000, the following headline was published, “Honey May Have Tumor-Fighting Link.” The story reads:

A provocative Turkish study on mice suggests that using honey during some colon-cancer surgery may prevent tumors from recurring. At least one Mayo Clinic cancer expert says the findings are too fascinating to dismiss. The research, in the December Archives of Surgery, was aimed at improving laparoscopic surgery, in which doctors insert long, skinny instruments and viewing tubes through tiny incisions to operate on internal organs. In colon cancer patients, some reports surfaced that tumors developed along the path of the surgical instruments. Honey’s role as a folk remedy for healing goes back to biblical times. In the study at Istanbul University, 60 mice were injected with tumor cells, and honey was spread inside the incision in half of the mice before and after the injections. All the mice not treated with honey developed tumors, compared with only eight of the 30 honey- treated mice. [End of quote]

God of the Bible, the Creator of this universe just over 6,000 years ago, declares millenniums before medical science knows the reason why—HONEY!

The Associated Press reports:

Since 1995, the Honey Research Unit at the University of Waikato in New Zealand has been studying the anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties of honey. Last year, Australia approved honey as a medicine, and an Australian company began marketing medicinal honey as a wound dressing. Recent studies at the University of Illinois found that dark honey, such as buckwheat, often contains more antioxidants—substances that retard food spoilage and can help reduce the risk of disease. Because honey is a humectant that attracts and retains moisture, baked goods made with honey stay moist and last longer. Unlike white sugar, honey provides a sustained energy release without hypoglycemia, especially important for athletes.

Brenda Adderly, M.H.A., in an article titled, “The Latest Buzz on Products of the Hive,” reports:

Honey, for example, has been clearly established as a highly effective topical antibiotic, especially useful as a dressing for post-surgical wounds, burns, and other infections. When taken internally, honey has also been shown to eliminate the H. pylori bacteria responsible for stomach ulcers.

Body builders will be glad to know that bee pollen has five to seven times more protein than that found in beef. Honey has proven to be an athlete’s endurance treat and totally free of man’s fingerprints.

In Healing From The Hive, it is reported that honey “increases calcium absorption; can increase hemoglobin count and treat or prevent anemia caused by nutritional factors; when combined with vinegar, can help arthritic joints; fights colds and respiratory infections of all kinds; when used externally, speeds the healing process; can help to boost gastrointestinal ulcer healing; works as a natural and gentle laxative; provides an array of vitamins and minerals; and supplies instant energy without the insulin surge caused by white sugar.”
