Baptism in the Holy Ghost

1. First, be assured that those who come in childlike faith always receive. 

2. Sanctify yourself and the room or area in which you will minister. Simply pray the prayer of faith. 

3. The first commandment Jesus Christ gives the church is to be baptized in the Holy Ghost. 

4. Instruct those seeking the Baptism of the Holy Ghost that this is a gift from God and we cannot earn it by reaching some pinnacle of holiness.  This mighty gift will take us to the pinnacle. 

Note: When possible, have them read the following passages out loud.

5. Jesus describes what He believes a believer should do:

Mark 16:17:
And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

6. The Holy Ghost will fill four powerful positions in your life:

a. The Holy Ghost is a supernatural teacher. 

John 14:26: But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

b. The Holy Ghost is a supernatural memory to retain God’s Words. 

John 14:26: But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

c. The Holy Ghost is a supernatural power to reach the lost. 

Acts 1:8: But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Fifty days had transpired from the resurrection of Christ unto the Day of Pentecost (and it is not recorded that one soul was saved).  The apostles and disciples feared for their lives, but on the day of Pentecost, 3,000 souls were saved in just hours. 

d. The Holy Ghost is a supernatural prayer life to handle all the unknown.
 
Romans 8:26-27: Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.  And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

7. When the saints received the gift of the Holy Ghost, it was always manifested (when detail is given) by speaking in an unknown tongue.  Acts 2:1-4:

1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

The first Gentiles saved were at Cornelius’s house, and they all spake with tongues.  Acts 10:44-47:

44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,
47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

Paul says to the disciples of John the Baptist in Acts 19:2-7:

2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.
3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John''s baptism.
4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.
7 And all the men were about twelve.

8. When Peter and the disciples saw Jesus walking on the water, they were afraid.  Jesus said, “Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.”  And Peter answered him and said, “Lord if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.”  Jesus said, “Come.” Peter stepped over the ship’s bulwark and began to walk on the water.  It was no miracle that Peter could walk.  The miracle was that he was walking on the water.  It will not be a miracle that you can speak.  The miracle will be that you will step out of the boat and begin to speak in a brand-new tongue, just like Jesus said. 

Tell the believers that you will lay hands upon them and Jesus Christ will baptize them with the Holy Ghost and with fire.

As we lay hands on you, close your eyes and raise your hands unto God.  When I say unto you,[brother/sister _________], in the name of Jesus Christ, receive ye the gift of the Holy Ghost, step out of the boat and begin to incorporate the functions of speaking.  Open your mouth and in childlike faith, put volume behind your vocal cords. 
You will begin to speak in other tongues, just like they did on the Day of Pentecost.  (Tell them you will be speaking in tongues at the same time so that they will not feel conspicuous.)

9. If the individual does not begin to speak after about 5-10 seconds, stop.  Counsel them and lay on hands and speak the prayer over them again. 

10. AFTER THEY RECEIVE:

a. Tell them that Satan will come and attempt to rob them of this marvelous gift. 

b. Give miracle examples such as:

Sister Beth’s story

The brothers from China

The cleaning lady in Canada

c. Tell them they are instructed to stir up the gift that’s within them.

Practice several times.
