Devil Possession and How to be Set Free (Part 1)

Opinions, philosophies, theories of pseudo-science, and dark wickedness in high places rage against the ancient truth of God’s Word, yet the Word of Truth stands impervious to the incessant onslaughts without damage or harm.  The Word of God is the truth and truth cannot be broken. 

This may offend today’s “Christian” mentality, but God is not a tolerant God.  In fact, He is a God of zero tolerance.  God is truth and truth has zero tolerance for all other positions.  2+2=4, and no other answer will do, no matter how well intended.  Zero tolerance is the very nature of truth.  Truth knows no opinion. 

How tolerant do these passages sound? 

☛ John 14:6:

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

☛ Acts 4:10-12:

10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.

11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.

12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

☛ Mark 16:15-16:

15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

God’s forgiveness is sometimes confused with tolerance.  God will forgive all those who believe upon the saving blood of Jesus Christ and repent and turn from their sins to follow Christ.  That is forgiveness not tolerance.

GOD SAID, Luke 4:33-35:

33 And in the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice,

34 Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God.

35 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not.

GOD SAID, Mark 5:2-13:

2 And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,

3 Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains:

4 Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him.

5 And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.

6 But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him,

7 And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.

8 For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.

9 And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.

10 And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.

11 Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding.

12 And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.

13 And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.

GOD SAID, Mark 16:17-18:

17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

GOD SAID, I Thessalonians 4:3-4:

3 For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:

4 That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;

MAN SAID: Ludicrous!  The existence of “Satan” and the idea of “devil possession” are ridiculous.  An educated society will have no part of it! 

Now THE RECORD: When the Word of God puts forth on any subject, it is thoroughly accurate and far beyond reproach—miracles and all.  How beautiful it is, my brothers and sisters, to bask in such glorious light.  The Word is HALLELUJAH!

Jesus Christ spent much of His ministry casting out devils.  When describing what real believers will do, He says in Mark 16:17:

And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

The operative word in this passage is believe. 

Spirits are real entities and have spiritual members, even as the natural man has physical members.  The Bible says God is a spirit, angels are ministering spirits, and Satan is a spirit.  All have lips, hands, feet, etc.  Don’t think of spirits as some abstract, ethereal entity, for this is not the case. 

Various types of devil possessions are outlined in the Scriptures: suicidal spirits, multiple personalities, self-destructive cutter-type spirits, and even those described in Mark 9:25:

When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.

There is a spirit of witchcraft and idolatry, a spirit of lust, hatred, pride, lying, jealousy, greed, unbelief, and more.  This short series will address the reality of Satan’s not-so-clandestine works, how devils gain access to human vessels, and how to evict them. 

Are there devils, and are people possessed by them today?  Several paragraphs from previous GodSaidManSaid features follow before today’s updates. 

▶ GodSaidManSaid, “Witches—Satanists—Occult:”

God’s severe judgment and social abhorrence of the occult was once a mighty force against even the idea of attaching oneself to such evil. Once God’s Word is negated, the evil door is opened and spiritual darkness begins to gain societal traction. This contagious unclean spirit of darkness begins to affect rebellious souls and in an ever increasing number. Satan’s entry into an individual’s life can be ever so subtle, as in the use of Ouija boards, tarot cards, horoscopes, fortunetellers, palm readers, séances, and their ilk.  Not included in this short list is the elephant in the room:  Devil possession of those academics who push evolution and atheism, and possess many of the world's scholarly minds.

Today, the notion of spiritual darkness is regularly mocked and regularly promoted. The idea of witches, for example, has been glamorized in the popular media by American TV series such as Bewitched, Charmed, Crossing Over, and no doubt many others. Also, many motion pictures have promoted the principles of witchcraft, Satanism, wizardry, and the occult in general. If that sounds stretched to you, consider the global infatuation with the Harry Potter books and movies. Harry’s life is chronicled as he studies to be a wizard at the Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry. This is a huge door of darkness that is an entrance into the world of paganism for millions of this world’s unsuspecting youth.

In his book, Angels, Evangelist Billy Graham weighed in with the following:

Satan and his demons are known by the discord they promote, the wars they start, the hatred they engender, the murders they initiate, the opposition to God and His commandments. They are dedicated to the spirit of destruction ... In his warfare against God, Satan uses the human race, which God created and loved. So God’s forces of good and Satan’s forces of evil have been engaged in a deadly conflict from the dawn of our history. Unless world leaders and statesmen understand the true nature of this warfare, they will continue to be blind leaders of the blind.

The very nature of the occult—a word which means "hidden"—makes the population of its adherents hard to button down, but be assured, in this world, there are a multitude. All the way back in 1986, an AP article quoted Ms. Laurie Cabot, an avowed witch. At the time, she was the head of the "Witches League for Public Awareness." Her group was protesting plans to film The Witches of Eastwick. She guessed the American population of witches at 6,000,000 and claimed 2,000 lived in Salem, Massachusetts, alone. Probably closer to the truth, but surely understated, would be the 2001 population of witches in America listed at 134,000, which was published in a survey called the American Religious Identification Survey (ARIS) conducted by the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. My statement concerning the population being understated was made simply because many involved in witchcraft hide their identity. What was very startling about this survey was that they assessed the population to be at only 8,000 in the year 1990. The 2001 population of witches showed a staggering 1,575% jump.

Satan is on the move. The prophet Daniel, in the book by his name, prophesies in chapter 8, verses 23 through 25:

23 And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up.

24 And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practice, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.

25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.

Transgressors are truly coming to a full. There are no longer any judgments to keep their progress in check. The antichrist is on the way.

The following sentences are from Wikipedia.org under the heading “Neopaganism in the United States:”

Wiccan churches and other Neopagan institutions are becoming more common in the US.  However, estimates of their numbers vary widely.  The 2014 Pew Research Center’s Religious Landscapes Survey included a subset of the New Age Spiritual Movement called “Pagan or Wiccan,” reflecting that ¾ of individuals identifying as New Age also identified as Pagan or Wiccan and placing Wiccans and Pagans at 0.3% of the total US population—or approximately 956,000 people of just over 1,275,000 individuals in the New Age movement.  Most of the 1990s studies put the number of US Neopagans between 200,000 and 1 million (0.1% to 0.5% of the total population).  A 2008 Pew Forum survey put “New Age” religious believers, including Neopagans, at about 1.2 million.

According to David Waldron (2005), roughly 10 million Wiccan-related books were sold in 2000 (up from 4.5 million in 1990), as reported by the American Booksellers Association.  [End of quote]

Note: Wiccan is witchcraft religion. 

Young and old alike are recruited into evil’s ranks with booze, drugs, sex, music, and the lure of the mystery of iniquity. Some relatively recent infamous proselytes of Satan would include Charles Manson, who with his followers, according to authors Gilmore and Kenner, were into witchcraft, "black magic" and "white magic," and who saw himself as a kind of wizard. Manson’s business card has the initials A.T.W.A. boldly displayed next to a satanic symbol. These letters stand for Air, Trees, Water, and Animals. Much of the platform of witchcraft is the worship and reverence of the earth.

This wickedness is global and its ranks are surging. Much talk is made of white witches, black witches, Satanists, and more in an effort to separate one from another, but be assured, all are cursed of God and will suffer His eternal fiery wrath. The evil door is opened and Satan takes those who enter at his will. II Timothy 2: 25-26:

25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will. [End of quotes]

▶ GodSaidManSaid, “We Will Kill Leona When She Gets Home—so the Devils Said:”

 Is there such a thing as devil possession in this day?  Do people actually sell their souls to the Devil?  The following paragraphs are from a feature on this website titled “Beware Who You Follow:”

Atheist Karl Marx, the father of the left-wing sociological system known as communism, was an ardent follower of Darwin.  The leadership of Marx has resulted in the sorrow and death of millions.  These following excerpts are from Dr. Morris’s book, The Long War Against God:

Karl Marx was born into a well-to-do family of Jewish Christians, but later in life became strongly anti-Semitic and anti-black, as well as anti-Christian and anti-God.  At first, however, and until high school graduation, he gave every indication of being a knowledgeable and committed Christian.  But then some unknown event occurred that changed his life’s orientation drastically.  The Rev. Richard Wurmbrand, an authority on the evils of communism, has observed: “Shortly after Marx received this certificate, something mysterious happened in his life: he became profoundly and passionately antireligious.  A new Marx began to emerge.  He writes in a poem, ‘I wish to avenge myself against the One who rules above.’”

And then Dr. Morris writes:

In addition to his economic and sociological writings, which were extensive, Marx wrote a number of poems and dramas, especially during his college years.  It is mainly in these that his dark religion is expressed.  Just to give one example cited by Wurmbrand, consider one of his poems, called “The Player,” written by Karl Marx at about age eighteen and evidently intended as a sort of personal testimony.  It reads:

The hellish vapors rise and fill the brain,
‘Til I go mad and my heart is utterly changed.
See this sword?
The prince of darkness
Sold it to me.
For me he beats the time and gives the signs.
Ever more boldly I play the dance of death.

According to Wurmbrand, this is in reference to rites of initiation in the Satanist cults, in which an enchanted sword ensuring success in life is sold to the initiate for the price of a blood covenant with Satan for his soul at death. [End of quotes]
