Marriage Counseling (Part 2 - All the Information You’’ll Need to Know)

Article#: 1366

The security, the peace, the purpose, the happiness, and the expectation of the blood-bought cannot be duplicated.  Moses speaks of God as our Rock in Deuteronomy 32:31:

For their rock is not as our Rock, even our enemies themselves being judges.

And again, he speaks of the rock of the wicked in verse 37:

And he shall say, Where are their gods, their rock in whom they trusted,

Jesus speaks of the wise man who hears and does His sayings in Matthew 7:24-25:

24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

God’s Word declares in Psalms 95:1:

O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.

Jesus Christ is the Rock of our salvation and Revelation 19:13 says His name is “The Word of God.”

Have you been washed in the blood of Christ?  Have you been born again?  Have you made your peace with God?  The Rock of your salvation is mere minutes away.  You can have the security, the peace, the purpose, the happiness, and the expectation of the blood-bought.  Click onto “Further With Jesus” right now.  You will find childlike instructions and immediate entry into the Kingdom of God.  Build your house upon the solid rock.  Now for today’s subject.

GOD SAID, II Corinthians 10:12:

For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.

GOD SAID, II Corinthians 6:14:

Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

GOD SAID, I Corinthians 7:39:

The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.

MAN SAID:  Marriage is a construct of the Bible, a book that was written by mere men, and it’s time an enlightened society sheds its shackles.

Now THE RECORD.  This is week two of the short GodSaidManSaid marriage counseling series and this feature begins with a short test.  The questions are drawn from the first feature.

1.       What is the concept of the first and second voice?

2.       How did the first and second voice affect Adam and Eve and the Garden of Eden?

3.       All of the sons and daughters of Adam were born into the law of sin and death.  God created a way of escape, and Jesus called it what?

4.       God authored the Holy Bible and He very adamantly commanded us not to _____ to it or ______ from it.

5.       All of God’s commandments have inherent within them a _________ or a _________, which is the result of doing the right or the wrong thing.

6.       The entire foundation of all that is good and Holy is ________ ________ ________ ________.

7.       What does endogamy mean?

You can review Marriage Counseling (Part 1) if you are not certain of your answers.

Welcome to GodSaidManSaid.  This is feature article 617 that will once again prove the inerrant superiority of the Holy Bible.  These features are archived on this site in text and streaming audio for the edification of the sons and daughters of God and as ammunition in the battle for the souls of men.  Every Thursday eve, God willing, they grow by one.  May God’s face shine upon you and all that your hands do touch.  Thank you for coming.

You cannot find real, unchanging truth by looking back through 2,000 years of compromise.  Keep in mind that Jesus Christ is not dying for sinners today.  He purchased our salvation 2,000-plus years ago at Calvary.   The redemption of the redeemed takes place at the foot of the cross.  The fact is that we time-travel back 2,000 years to Golgotha’s hill to find His redeeming blood.  From here, we individually begin our journey with God’s clear instructions in hand—the Holy Bible.

You cannot discern the truth of human sexuality and male-female relationships, which, of course, include marriage, by looking at today’s accepted norms.  Keep in mind that the vast majority of humanity will find its end in a place called the Lake of Fire.

II Corinthians 10:12:

For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.

Our examples and instructions for healthy living are found in the unchanging Word of God.

Man is in a downward spiral of death, an inescapable result of his disregard for God’s instructions.  In the Biblical book of Hosea 4:13, God tells Israel that because they had been unfaithful to Him, they would find the same result in their own families.  It reads, in part, “…therefore your daughters shall commit whoredom, and your spouses shall commit adultery.”  This, surely, is come to pass.  Spousal infidelity is common fare, and the idea of a man and a woman entering the marriage bed as virgins is very rare indeed.  The world is full of fornication, generating a devastating array of horrific paydays.  Sexually transmitted diseases are a pandemic and approximately 70,000,000 U.S. citizens have sexually transmitted warts and lesions.  The whole world is a deadly mess.

The marriage picture is deteriorating in like fashion.  The front page of the December 15, 2012 issue of Science News carried the title of “Modern Family.”  The following paragraph is from that feature:

“Traditional heterosexual marriage has already been destroyed,” says social historian Stephanie Coontz of the Evergreen State College in Olympia, Wash.  “People now decide for themselves who and when and whether to marry, and whether to have children and how to divide household tasks.”  [End of quote]

According to DivorceStatistics.org:

Instead of marriage, many choose cohabitation.  At the time of this feature (December 2012), homosexual marriage is legal in nine states and Washington, D.C., our nation’s capital, with the president pushing for the legalization of gay marriage in all 50 states.  In some states, homosexuals are able to adopt children—children which their union could not naturally produce.  God calls homosexuality an abomination (Leviticus 20:13).  The result of the onslaught of the enemy is confusion.  For more information on homosexuality and God’s way of escape, you can click onto the following:

The marriage picture is dark, but there is a bright light for those who cast off the world’s norms and embrace the Creator’s direction.

In feature one, we laid down the foundation upon which the house of a joyful marriage is built, and that foundation is the Word of God.  The only grounds for divorce are fornication.   Matthew 5:32:

But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

After a spouse dies and one chooses to remarry, this commandment is given in I Corinthians 7:39:

The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.

In feature one, you learned about endogamy, which means that each spouse should have like spiritual root, and it applies here.  Consider this passage: II Corinthians 6:14:

Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

What does equal yoking mean?  When a farmer yokes a pair of oxen to pull the plow, he first chooses the lead ox, which (for example’s sake) weighs in at 2550 pounds.  He’ll choose the second ox at 2500 pounds, almost identical, just slightly smaller.  On the spiritual plane, equal yoking does not mean that you both only confess Jesus Christ as your savior.  Equal yoking also means that you both have equal zeal and commitment to the Word of God, the foundation of all that is wholesome, true, and righteous.

If our farmer had selected a second ox of only 1000 pounds, this creature would not be able to keep up and soon the lead ox would not only pull the plow, but also his flagging companion, and their work would be disappointing.

Will you and your future mate be equally yoked?  A good litmus test would look like this:

1.       Are you both born-again?

2.       Do you both recognize the Word of God as your authority and not church-denominational teaching?

3.       Do you both give daily attention to studying the Word of God and prayer?

4.       When you dine, do you both give thanks and sanctify your food with the prayers of faith?

5.       Do you both give of your time and resources to underwrite the gospel of Jesus Christ?

6.       Do you both regularly attend a house of faith where the Word of God is supreme?

If a successful marriage is going to exist, equal yoking is not an option, it is essential.  Next week, God willing, the final feature in this series will be published and it won’t be normal.

Now you have THE RECORD.
