Is There Life in Outer Space?

Article#: 700

Matt, a visitor to Godsaidmansaid.com, posed a question in regard to the universe surrounding us. His letter follows:

I am fascinated by your site. I do have one question, though. In our solar system we have nine planets...maybe more, but the only one to harbor life happens to be Earth. I understand that the other planets may serve a great purpose in terms of their gravitational anchor upon one another keeping our world in its present orbit. But moreover, this has always bothered me...Why did God make the other planets? What about Venus and Mars which have no life, but a terrain similar to our own? Perhaps God originally planned to put life there, too, but decided it wasn’t worth the effort. But why would God make other worlds similar to our own, but with no life forms. No doubt, I strongly believe God made everything, but it has always puzzled me why He made other worlds so empty but yet He still created them. Why? Please make this a topic of your site if you can.

Thank You: Matt

P.S. Please reply as I would appreciate it.

This question is carried further in the minds of men. Speculation abounds and vast resources are committed to establishing whether there is life in outer space. To evolutionists, it is the unholy grail...a type of missing link. If they find life in outer space, their false assumption is that it will prove the theory of evolution. By the way, the Word of God certifies that there is life in outer space. Now for today’s subject.

GOD SAID in Isaiah, Chapter 45, Verse 18:

For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else.

GOD SAID in Genesis, Chapter 1, Verses 14-19:

14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.

16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.

17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,

18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.

19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

Nehemiah, Chapter 9, Verse 6, "and the host of heaven worshippeth thee." The stars and planets are for beauty and direction as well. Untold millions have traversed the open seas with only the stars to show the way. Billions of hours have been logged viewing the glory of a star garnished sky.

MAN SAID that God did not create anything because He doesn’t exist. The universe and humanity just popped out of nowhere and here we are. Surely there is life other than ours in this vast universe and when we find it, it will destroy the myth of God completely.

Now THE RECORD. You may recall in the late 1990’s the firestorm created by the media concerning the purported discovery of life on Mars. It proved false but I’ll bet you never saw the retraction. The following paragraph was found in Discover magazine, the May 2002 issue:

Does Life Exist Elsewhere in Our Solar System?

Someone at NASA must think so. A great deal of the money the U.S. space agency has spent on sending probes to Mars—starting with two Viking landers in 1976—has gone toward trying to figure out if life ever took hold there. So far, scientists have found no proof there ever was, is now, or ever will be life on the Red Planet.

A national science writer by the name of Robert Berman published the following:

Around some other stars, the effects of chaos have been more extreme than in our solar system. In several systems, Jupiter-sized planets spiraled into orbits just a few million miles from their stars. Any Earth-like worlds that formed there probably would have been incinerated.

In spite of man’s lack of success, endlessly staring through high-powered telescopes, launching search satellites and probes, building expensive listening outposts, etc., etc., he continues to hope for the cosmic missing link.

I mentioned earlier that God’s word declares there is life in outer space. God, the Lord Jesus Christ and a host of angels as well as other creations of His dwell in the third heaven which is located beyond the north star. (More information on this subject will be available in a future topic on this site.) There surely is life in outer space. Jesus Christ was in heaven before he came to earth via seed of the Holy Ghost and Mary. Jesus speaks in John, Chapter 8, Verse 23:

And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.

Multitudes of angels who are presently on the earth came from outer space as well as the fallen angel Satan and his fallen followers. There surely is life in outer space.

After billions of hours of sky searching, earth’s equivalent is still missing. First it must be noted that earth and the entire universe are just over 6,000 years old...just not enough time for all the accidental miracles necessary for the evolution of anything to transpire on this earth or in outer space. The concept of a 6,000 year old earth may shock your psychic sensibility, but be advised that no one has, nor ever will prove it older. Prior to Darwin’s theory of evolution, the idea of a young earth was common knowledge. Since Darwin, plenty of old age speculations have been set forth. If you are of a Darwinian mindset, I challenge you to prove your position. We have prove and continue to prove a young earth as taught by God’s word. See the following subjects on this website, "Dinosaurs," "6,000 Year Old Earth," "120 Years," and "Prophecy Prelude."

GOD SAID the earth was made to be inhabited. Consider the uniqueness of earth:

  • Like no other known planet, 98% of earth is made up of iron, oxygen, sulfur, silicon, magnesium and nickel.
  • Like no other planet, the earth is covered with green vegetation pumping mountains of fresh oxygen into our air and cleaning the atmosphere of harmful carbon dioxide.
  • Like no other planet, earth has an endless supply of oxygen-laden water, circulating in its streams, rivers and oceans teeming with self-sustaining life.
  • Like no other planet, the surface of the earth is a glorious gem in the universe compared to its dull and lifeless counterparts.
  • Like no other planet, life is found in every square inch of earth—even in Antarctica. One acre of farmland six inches thick is estimated to contain several tons of living bacteria, a ton of fungi, 200 pounds of unicellular protozoan animals, about 100 pounds of yeast and 100 pounds of algae.
  • Like no other planet, the earth travels at just the right speed in its 292 million-mile-long orbit around the sun. Too much faster and it would be pulled away from the sun and if too far all life would die. And if it traveled slightly slower it would move too close to the sun and all life would perish.
  • Like no other planet, the earth’s rotation on its axis protects the life on it. If slower all life would die in time by a combination of freezing at night due to a lack of sunlight and burning up during the day due to too much sun.
  • Like no other planet, the earth sits perfectly in its environment. For example, if the moon were too close to the earth it would create massive tides which would erode the continents and mountain ridges making the earth flat. It is estimated it would then be covered with one and a half miles of water.
  • Like no other planet, 70% of the earth is covered with living water. The water acts as a heat sink absorbing the sun’s energy during the day keeping the earth comfortable and gradually releasing its heat by night keeping the earth from becoming unbearably cold. Without the temperature balancing act of the vast reservoirs of the earth’s water many parts would be hot enough to boil water during the day and freeze water during the night. Life could not exist.
  • Like no other planet, God’s earth has a built-in thermostat. Just a few degrees change in earth’s average temperature would result in most life roasting or freezing.
  • Like no other known planet, the earth’s one mile thick girdle protects it from the heat of its molten core.
  • Like no other planet, the earth touts a radiation shielding ozone layer, without which life could not exist.

There are literally hundreds of such examples that testify of the uniqueness of God’s good earth. The tolerances for life to exist and amenities necessary to sustain it are so phenomenally unique to earth that the odds of them existing elsewhere in space are simply beyond numerical comprehension.

Matt also suggested that possibly God had planned to place life on other planets. I know of no scripture that teaches such a concept. However in pursuing the idea of what would have happened had Eve and Adam not sinned, it would conceivably have meant a population of zillions of people and hence the need for many earths. But speculation is not the same thing as holy doctrine.

GOD SAID that the earth was created to be inhabited and that the host of heaven was made for light by day, lights by night, for signs and for seasons and for days and years. They bring glory unto God as men behold their beauty as well as give us direction on the open sea, etc.

MAN SAID that God did not create anything because He doesn’t exist. The universe and humanity just popped out of nowhere and here we are. Surely there is life other than ours in this vast universe and when we find it, it will destroy the myth of God completely.

Now you have THE RECORD.
