In an ongoing effort to answer questions of this website’s audience, we select the most commonly asked—and what we consider the most important—and answer them in a weekly webcast. Soon, we expect to have answered, according to the Word of God, for all intents and purposes, most of the world’s basic questions. I know that sounds facetious, but when you consider the commonality of and the universality of most questions, you’ll realize that the world’s questions are not so numerous. Following are four:
This e-mail message arrived at GodSaidManSaid:
Hi. I am a born-again believer who wants to do the will of God (I try). Anyway I was telling a guy about your website and we got into a heated debate. His argument was that if the only way to heaven is by being born-again, what about people who know nothing about Jesus? There are people who live in jungles and have no outside contact with the world, as we know it. Also, there are people who just have not been exposed to the Word. What happens to them? Please help me answer his question. Your brother in Christ.
Dear Brother Marcis:
The answer to your question is knowledge. James 4:17:
Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
Then, Genesis 2:16,17:
16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
Men are held accountable to the knowledge they have of the Lord Jesus Christ and how they respond to that knowledge. If they have never heard, they are not accountable—but this does not include willing ignorance: those who simply don’t care to search for truth. There are those who have yet to hear about the saving grace of Christ Jesus, God’s only begotten Son, but His handiwork is everywhere before them. Hebrews 1, verses 1 and 2:
1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
Also, it is recorded in Psalms 19:1 through 4:
1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth his handiwork.
2 Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night showeth knowledge.
3 There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.
4 Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun,
As in all things, success is measured in how we respond to knowledge. All are accountable to knowledge.
Question number two came from Elaine. It reads:
Is it wrong to seek fortunetellers? Today, there are many so-called "Angel Readings." Comments? Elaine
Dear Sister Elaine:
God speaks to His rebellious people who had given themselves over to the realm of evil spirits, which includes fortunetellers. In Isaiah 47:9 through 14:
9 But these two things shall come to thee in a moment in one day, the loss of children, and widowhood: they shall come upon thee in their perfection for the multitude of thy sorceries, and for the great abundance of thine enchantments.
10 For thou hast trusted in thy wickedness: thou hast said, None seeth me. Thy wisdom and thy knowledge, it hath perverted thee; and thou hast said in thine heart, I am, and none else beside me.
11 Therefore shall evil come upon thee; thou shalt not know from whence it riseth: and mischief shall fall upon thee; thou shalt not be able to put it off: and desolation shall come upon thee suddenly, which thou shalt not know.
12 Stand now with thine enchantments, and with the multitude of thy sorceries, wherein thou hast laboured from thy youth; if so be thou shalt be able to profit, if so be thou mayest prevail.
13 Thou art wearied in the multitude of thy counsels. Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save thee from these things that shall come upon thee.
14 Behold, they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame: there shall not be a coal to warm at, nor fire to sit before it.
When this door is opened, it is a portal for more evil spirit influence and domination. Shut this door soundly with the Word of God. For more details on this subject, click on to "WITCHES — SATANISTS — OCCULT" and "HAUNTINGS, DEAD SPIRITS, AND GHOSTS" in the "GodSaidManSaid—The Record" category.
The third question was sent by Brother Clarence:
I have a question. I would like to know if the devil can read our minds?
Dear Brother Clarence:
The devil is a spirit and he can see your spiritual being, which is far superior to reading thoughts alone. Thoughts, by the way, are spiritually motivated. They are not physical entities. God is a spirit and He can read thoughts. Jesus Christ, who was the fullness of the Godhead bodily, operating in the power of the Spirit, could read thoughts (Matthew, chapter 9, verse 4 and many other passages). In Acts 19:13 through 16, evil spirits read the condition of the spirits of the seven sons of Sceva:
13 Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth.
14 And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so.
15And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?
16 And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.
The final question came from Sister Lisa:
I have been deep in reading your website for a while, and I would like to know if you have a church affiliation. I am an evangelical Lutheran, if you would like to make any comments on that! I am not sure how my current church stacks up against your teachings. Lisa
Dear Sister Lisa:
First, GodSaidManSaid has no denominational affiliation. We are members of the body of Christ through His saving blood and give allegiance to the Word of God found in the majority-text Authorized King James Version of the Holy Bible. Christ Jesus did not start a variety of denominations, but a single body knit around the Word of God. Denominations, by their very nature, are dividers and not uniters. They number into the thousands and are at odds with one another, holding up the banners of their particular additions or deletions. God alone can unite. Concerning the issue of denomination mentality, the Word of God gives a strong rebuke in many places. The example that follows is from I Corinthians 1:10-13:
10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
11 For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.
12 Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ.
13 Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?
God gave His Word for us to measure up to it. All other thoughts and dogmas must be surrendered. Lisa, in regard to your denomination or any other, we generally have no specific statement, with this exception: if they are unwilling to conform to the Word of God, they are not worthy to be called by His name.
Finally, you made mention of "our" teaching. The commission of this website is to point out and contend for the teaching of the Scriptures and not to promote our own agenda. If you’ve found us to teach something that is outside the Word of God, please bring it to our attention. We will investigate the issue and if we’re in error, we will amend our ways to conform to the Word of God. There is no other way.
